The June Passport to Fun drawing winner is 6 year old Sydney Perlewitz. Living Well in LO Powered by Parks & Recreation A typical LO family enjoys the evening with food, a lot of dancing, maybe a little wine for the adults and a generous amount of laughter. That band rocked it with popular ballads such as “Dreamboat Annie” and “Magic Man”. The second concert gathered all ages for a trip back in time! The Heart Tribute Band, BARRACUDA held on July 14 at Foothills Park attracted an even larger crowd. Guests danced to their tunes, and enjoyed cuisine from Big O’s Pizza and Kat’s Crepes. Former Lake Oswego natives and country rock duo, Cloverdayle, brought the audience to their feet with their energy-fueled performance.

Over 2000 guests joined the Parks & Recreation Department for the opening night July 8 of the Sounds of Summer Concert series. Kicking off the summer with Moonlight & Music in Millennium Plaza Park is the essential way to Live Well in LO! With beautiful northwest weather, the Lake in view, Skybound Blue opened the summer series with harmony-driven, foot-stomping, dig deep and tell the story kind of music. Watch here for the evening’s incredible recap! With over 460 participants and only a handful of minor scratches and bruises and lots of muddy runners, the event was a complete success. To cap off the Month of July, on the last day, the second full moon of the month, Parks & Recreation presented the FIRST EVER, Once in a Blue Moon 5K Adventure Run at Luscher Farm. LOACC New Ride Debuts in LO July 4th Parade!īringing out the 45th Anniversary celebratory shuttle with new wrap got lots of cheers at the Lake Oswego July 4th Parade! Seniors were delighted to get to ride in the fun, colorful vehicle, was designed to showcase the year of the birth of the LOACC in 1970, with a nod to that pop art era with Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein. Built on the pillars of actionable goals, sustainable behaviors, clear incentives, and peer support, this self-paced program enables participants to create their own personal pathways for aging well. The grant funds one year of the Aging Mastery Program, an innovative 10 week series designed to assist boomers and seniors navigate aging successfully. Two staff attended training in Denver along with seven other centers. There are 11,000 centers in the US, and the LOACC was one selected to compete for eight grants through the National Council on Aging (NCoA), and was successful. The Lake Oswego Adult Community Center Highlights! In the Men’s Rec division we ended up with a 5-way tie for second place so these will be some exciting tournament games! Championship games for the Men’s Rec division will take place on Aug. Despite the extreme heat teams began play in their double elimination tournaments on Tuesday & Thursday. The last week of July means the start of the Men’s Softball Tournament for the Rec and 35+ divisions. 2015 also marks the lowest rate of low-enrollment cancellations for summer camps in LOPRD history. Summer camps have been in full swing since school got out but July has been a record-breaking month! LOPRD hosted over 25 camps the month of July with participant numbers skyrocketing to over 400 from around 293 last year.

  • PGA Junior League provided us with the opportunity to host two teams this season and we were able to advance 3 players to the regional All-Star team which will be competing for the State Championship in August.

    Our new foot golf activity is gaining traction as we were featured on the 5 O’clock news on KGW Channel 8.We held our first week-long Junior Golf Camp from Tue, 7/7-Fri, 7/10 exposing 30 new kids to the joys of playing golf.ĝespite the excessive heat July was a good month for attendance of activities and rounds at the Course.Lake Oswego Municipal Golf Course Highlights: The Fit Spot at West Waluga Park opened on July 11th to a very favorable review! The 50+ Advisory Board along with the Mayor and Council members plus a large appreciative audience sampled the equipment. The most attendance was definitely at the Curtis Salgado Concert, it was an amazing evening! There were eight concerts in all, four at Millennium Plaza Park and four at Foothills Park. Then it was time to begin the Moonlight & Music and the Sounds of Summer Concert Series. Then, onto The Star Spangled Parade and Celebration plus the Red, White and Pie Event! The evening included the Presentation of colors by the Lake Oswego Honor Guard and an expressive tribute to Veterans. We began the month with the Millennium Concert Band and enjoyed a patriotic concert under the direction Dale Cleland, the audience was entertained with various arrangements that included both military and marching compositions. July is National Parks & Recreation Month!
